We know from various short-term fuel poverty projects run over recent years by both the Kyle of Sutherland Development Trust, and East & Central Sutherland Citizens Advice Bureau that problems in keeping homes warm is a widespread issue.
By gathering evidence which is specific to Sutherland, through the Affordable Warmth Survey which was open to all Sutherland residents during August 2021, we hope to highlight the challenges faced to ensure the problem is properly recognised and addressed.
Our aim is to influence the Scottish Government as it unveils its new fuel poverty strategy later this year so that it results in an increase in the locally delivered help and support available to any Sutherland household having difficulty keeping their home warm.
